Trauma?
Trauma isn’t just defined by accidents and injuries like being in a car accident. It might be a series of situations that you have experienced through your life where you feel overwhelmed and it's way ‘too much’ to process. This accumulates as a stress in the bodymind which puts you in survival mode and your mind and body can start acting like daily life is a life-or-death situation.
Our bodies hold all experiences in the bodymind as an imprint and they create an effect though the personality as stored memories. These patterns create deep reflexes in the body, through your nervous system and deep fascia as the body keeps the score. These experiences may be laid down in our system non-verbally and unconsciously in our bodies from a young age.
Patterns of experience can be created by :-
birth process- interventions, foetal distress
emotional trauma – neglect, lack of support
generational trauma – genetic influences
nutrition – inflammation, deficiencies
environment – family dysfunction, ptsd
Getting stuck in this ‘go go go’ mode can be extremely detrimental to our health - lack of sleep becomes difficult, lowering our immunity, our ability to recover, our capacity to think clearly and limiting our ability to connect with others.
Craniosacral therapy is all about helping us ‘feeling safe’ in your skin, so it’s really helpful for recovering from trauma - if we send the body enough signals that it is safe to come out of ‘survival’ mode, then it will switch off ‘fight-or-flight’ and reorganise when it feels safe.
Biodynamic Craniosacral work is bringing awareness to these deep patterns of resistance and fixation. Healing involves coming back into relationship with your body by listening and establishing resources. Embodiment is having the best resources.
